Global VAT Compliance (GVC) is a leading provider of tax compliance services based in The Hague, The Netherlands. We help our clients comply with their VAT obligations through automation solutions and expert advisory. Our in-house workflow software, Mytaxflow, supports our global operations in over 90 countries, and we are looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer in Tbilisi, Georgia, to help develop and enhance this platform.
We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in developing web applications using PHP and modern JavaScript frameworks. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Laravel, VueJS, and other web technologies. They should be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and be keen on continuous learning and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web applications using PHP, Laravel, and VueJS.
- Design scalable and maintainable backend architectures and ensure seamless integration with frontend systems.
- Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding, debugging, and documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive code to enhance the user experience.
- Implement APIs and ensure backend services communicate effectively with frontend systems.
- Participate in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide work breakdown, and create timelines.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software.
- Engage in stakeholder communication to understand project requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.

Requirements
- 3-5 years of professional experience in software development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in PHP, Laravel, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (VueJS, jQuery, AJAX).
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.
- Proficient in version control systems like Git and Bitbucket.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and workflows.
- Experience with API integration and development.
- Knowledge of web servers such as Apache.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude and a focus on delivering high-quality code.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with project management tools like Jira and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams is a plus.
