The Georgian Co-Investment Fund is looking for Head of Internal Audit
Duty station: Tbilisi, Georgia

Job Purpose:
The Head of Internal Audit is responsible for developing and executing the internal audit strategy, ensuring effective risk management, and evaluating the operational, financial, and procurement processes for the fund and its affiliate companies. The Head of Internal Audit also provides independent assessments of internal controls, financial reporting, and operational efficiency, helping to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Additionally, the Head of Internal Audit investigates occurrences of fraud, embezzlement, theft, waste, etc., and recommends controls to prevent or detect such occurrences.--- Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:
  • Establish and lead the internal audit department across the fund and its affiliates.
  • Develop and implement an annual risk-based audit plan, covering all critical areas such as financial processes, procurement, operations, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Lead and manage the internal audit team, providing direction, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Report directly to GCF Management, providing regular updates on audit findings, risk assessments, and improvements.

Audit Planning & Execution:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of internal audits across all fund operations and affiliate companies.
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, financial systems, and operational processes in the various industries (Hospitality, Real Estate, Agriculture, and Logistics).
  • Evaluate procurement processes to ensure compliance with corporate policies, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Develop audit reports, highlighting key findings, risk exposures, and areas of improvement, and present these to GCF Management.

Risk Management & Compliance:
  • Identify and assess key risks related to the fund's and its affiliates' operations, including financial, procurement, regulatory, and operational risks.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies, with a focus on maintaining compliance and mitigating risks.
  • Provide recommendations to GCF management for improving internal controls and procedures, with a focus on operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Investigate occurrences of fraud, embezzlement, theft, waste, and other financial misconduct.
  • Recommend and implement internal controls to detect or prevent fraud and related activities, ensuring the organization maintains high ethical standards and security.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate with senior management and other functional departments (e.g., finance, legal, procurement) to improve internal controls and processes.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, integrity, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Operational Efficiency & Best Practices:
  • Ensure that audits align with industry’s best practices, leveraging leading technologies, data analytics, and audit methodologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the internal audit department and across the fund's and its affiliates' operations.
  • Stay current on trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes in the sectors where the fund operates.

Key Requirements:
Education:An academic background in Finance, Economics, Audit, or a related field is required.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal audit or related roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, in the investment sector or a well-established financial institution. Experience in internal audit is a must.
  • A background in auditing diverse industries, such as hospitality, real estate, agriculture, and logistics, is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and operational auditing, internal control frameworks, procurement processes, and risk management.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and industry-specific regulations.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Georgian and English.

Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in audit software, data analytics, and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and auditing standards.
