Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and assessing the risk associated with credit applications. This position requires an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to ensure that applications are processed efficiently while adhering to company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess loan applications, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Analyze applicants' financial documents, credit reports, and other relevant information to determine loan eligibility.
- Make decisions regarding loan approval or denial, providing clear, data-driven reasoning for each decision.
- Communicate with loan applicants to request additional documentation or clarification as needed.
- Collaborate with the loan processing team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of loan applications.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
- Assist in developing and refining underwriting processes to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 years of underwriting experience (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies and inconsistencies in loan applications and financial documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members. Additional Skills (Preferred):
Experience with CRM
Familiarity with short-term loan products such as payday loans, installment loans, or personal lines of credit.
